HOW DO YOU OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT?
There are many banks in Salzburg. You have to decide which bank you want to open an account with. The most popular type of account is the Giro Account. After you have opened an account, you will receive a debit card and a PIN code after a few days. You need the account to pay the rent, the mobile phone bill and to get a salary etc.

What do you need in Austria to open a bank account?
A valid photo ID (for example passport) must be brought with you. If you are a non-EU citizen, the bank can also ask for the confirmation of residence.

HOW DO YOU TRANSFER MONEY?
For a transfer within Europe you need the IBAN (International Bank Account Number). For a payment outside of Austria you also need the BIC (Business Identifier Code).
