What is the registration requirement?
If you move to Austria, you must report to the correct registration office. You must register within three days. There is one registration office in the City of Salzburg:
For a registration confirmation you need a completed registration form and a passport or identity card. The registration application form can be downloaded HERE.
When is the registration certificate alone not enough?
EU citizens and non-EU citizens must also obtain a permanent residence certificate in addition to the registration certificate. The registration certificate alone is not a valid residence permit for EU citizens.
There are special rules for third-country nationals. These are people who
are not EU citizens
are not EWR citizens (from Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway)
are not Swiss citizens
If you want to stay in Austria for more than six months as a third-country national, you need a residence permit.
The forms for the residence permits and further information can be found HERE:
If you were born in Austria, you do not automatically have Austrian citizenship. At least one parent must be an Austrian citizen so that the child also gets citizenship. However, you can apply for Austrian citizenship. Many pre-requisites are necessary for this. All information can be found here: https://www.help.gv.at/Portal.Node/hlpd/public/content/136
Normally, you must have a primary residence in Austria for ten years before you can apply for citizenship. For asylum seekers, this is counted from the day the asylum status is recognised. If you are abroad for a long time, the time counter will re-start.
You can also be naturalised after six years if you:
are an EWR citizen (EU states + Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway)
were born in Austria
are a recognised refugee
are married to an Austrian.
What must you do if you want to get married in Salzburg?
If you want to get married in Salzburg, you must make an appointment at the Salzburg Registry Office. The marriage certificate can then be applied for at the registry office. More information can be found here:

At the birth of a child, you can request the birth certificate directly in the hospital. At the Salzburg Registry Office, you will receive all other necessary documents. The first issuing of a birth certificate is free of charge for children up to 2 years of age, after which a contribution must be paid. More information can be found at: www.stadt-salzburg.at/internet/politik_verwaltung/buergerservice/geburt/geburtsurkunde
Death
Every death is recorded in Salzburg at the registry office. The obituary is usually carried out by the funeral company, by the police or by the health department. After the obituary, you can request a death certificate at the Salzburg Registry Office within two weeks. Here you find more information: https://www.stadt-salzburg.at/behoerdengaenge/sterbeurkunde

Where can you have your driver’s license rewritten?
If you are a resident in the EU or the EWR, you do not have to rewrite your driver’s license. If you are resident in Salzburg as a non-EU or EEA member, your driver’s license is valid for six months. Thereafter, it must be rewritten. In exceptional cases, you may also have to take a practical driving test. Radio/TV
If you have a radio and/or television set at home, you must pay fees. Registration forms are available at all Raiffeisen banks, in the municipal offices or directly at the GIS (Fee info Service).
The new residential address must be registered at a licensing office. The required documentation and documents are summarised under the following link. There you will also find all licensing offices: www.help.gv.at/Portal.Node/hlpd/public/content
Make sure that you also are posting the current data in your car insurance. Usually, an informal letter with the new address is enough.
You have a dog:
If your dog is over three months old, you must pay a dog tax for it (except in a few exceptions). If your main residence is in the City of Salzburg, the registration and de-registration takes place at:
